Guy Turcotte Trial Suspended After Defence Witness Unavailable To Testify

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 09 Nov, 2015 11:01 AM
SAINT-JEROME, Que. — The first-degree murder trial of Guy Turcotte has been suspended until Tuesday after a final defence witness was unavailable to testify today.

Quebec Superior Court Justice Andre Vincent accepted a request by the defence to put the case off.

The defence initially asked the trial be suspended until Wednesday but Vincent only allowed a one-day break.

The Crown is expected to begin calling its expert rebuttal witnesses after the defence completes its presentation to the jury.

Turcotte has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of his son, Olivier, 5, and his daughter Anne-Sophie, 3.

His lawyers are arguing the 43-year-old former cardiologist should be found not criminally responsible by way of mental disorder.
