Gun used in Edmonton mass murders was stolen in Surrey, B.C., in 2006

    VANCOUVER — Investigators say a gun used in a mass murder in Alberta was stolen in B.C.

    Police say six adults and two young children were found dead at a home in Edmonton on Monday.

    Officers in Edmonton say the nine-millimetre handgun used to kill them was a registered weapon and was reported stolen in Surrey in 2006.

    Cpl. Bert Paquet of Surrey RCMP confirmed officers are looking at the file associated with the gun and will share their findings with the Edmonton Police Service.

    Paquet declined to speak further as he did not want to comment on an Edmonton police investigation.

    Investigators say there is no suggestion of gang involvement and the motive for the slaughter appears to have been planned and deliberate domestic violence.
