'Grinch' Steals Donations From Christmas Display On Prince Edward Island

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 14 Dec, 2016 01:13 PM
NORTH RUSTICO, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. couple who collect charitable donations from people visiting their elaborate Christmas display says the donation box has been stolen.

The box containing an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from their North Rustico home late Tuesday afternoon, according to the RCMP, which called the thief "the Grinch" in a news release.

The couple has been turning their yard into a Christmas wonderland annually since 2005, and police say they leave out a box for the hundreds of people who visit every year to leave donations for the Children's Wish Foundation.

The couple says this is the first time any money has been stolen and they're disappointed someone would take from such a worthy cause.

They hope the perpetrators will at least return the box, which the couple say would be difficult to replace.
