STIRLING, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Police say they are investigating an incident in which a child required 48 stitches to her face after being bitten by a dog.

OPP say the incident occurred on April 1 in Stirling — a village northwest of Belleville, Ont.

They say the three-year-old girl was with her mother in a common area of an apartment building when a dog came by and bit the child on the face.
