Funeral Today For Ken Taylor, Ex-Diplomat In Iran During Hostage Crisis

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 Oct, 2015 11:41 AM
TORONTO — A funeral is to be held today in Toronto for Canada's former ambassador to Iran, Ken Taylor.

Taylor garnered international fame for helping six Americans escape Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis.

What became known as the "Canadian Caper" was the subject of a book and more recently a Hollywood movie.

He made further headlines when he complained the movie "Argo" minimized Canada's role in the crisis.

The 81-year-old Taylor died of cancer 10 days ago in New York.

The service will be held in a mid-town church and among those attending will be Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.
