CLUNY, Alta. — Some residents of an Alberta resort community destroyed by flooding two years ago are going to court to try to recoup some of their losses from an insurance company.
Hidden Valley, about 100 kilometres east of Calgary, was wiped out by the flood which decimated a number of communities in southern Alberta.
No money was made available from Alberta's disaster relief program, because the resort's 300 cabins were considered a secondary residence.
Seventeen former residents are suing Intact Insurance for not paying out on damage caused by sewer backup.
Lawyer Clint Docken, who is representing the residents, says all other insurance companies paid out for sewage damage except Intact.
An official with the insurance company says it is not the company's policy to comment on individual cases.
