Four Men Rescued After Boat Capsizes In Treacherous Strait Off Vancouver Island

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 25 Oct, 2015 01:38 PM
CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. — Four people are back on dry land after their boat capsized in a notoriously dangerous section of water off Vancouver Island.

The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria responded Saturday evening to a call for help from a small pleasure craft.

The boat had flipped over while travelling through Seymour Narrows, just north of Campbell River, B.C. — a treacherous stretch of water known for its strong currents.

Coast guard and RCMP vessels were dispatched and all four people were quickly pulled from the water.

An official with the search-and-rescue co-ordination centre says one person required immediate medical attention.

That person was transferred to emergency medical services after being brought ashore.
