Four Hospitalized Following Crash With Alleged Bank Robbers: Vancouver Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 05 Feb, 2018 12:20 PM
VANCOUVER — Police say four people were taken to hospital after a car crash in east Vancouver as police investigated two bank robberies.

Const. Jason Doucette says none of those who were injured were involved in the alleged bank robberies, describing them as "innocent civilians."

The four people, who were in the same vehicle, were taken to hospital with what's believed to be minor injuries.

Doucette says officers received reports of robberies at two separate banks within 30 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

He says a Porsche Cayenne that police believe was driven by the suspects crashed at an intersection near the location of the second robbery, minutes after it was reported.

    The crash involved four vehicles.

Doucette says officers blocked in the Porsche and a man and a woman were arrested.

UPDATE: CHARGES LAID IN BANK ROBBERIES

Crown Counsel has approved two counts of robbery against 23-year-old Jordan Anthony Doddridge, and charges have been recommend against his female passenger, following their arrests yesterday afternoon at Clark and East 1st Avenue in Vancouver.

Police received a report of a bank robbery on Commercial Drive just after 1 p.m. on February 3rd. A second robbery happened 30 minutes later on East Broadway and Commercial. A description of the alleged suspect vehicle was provided to police, which was involved in a collision with four other vehicles shortly after. VPD officers were able to move in and arrest the alleged suspects.

Four occupants of one vehicle were taken to hospital with what was originally described to be minor injuries. Unfortunately, upon further medical assessment, one of the passengers, a woman in her 50s visiting from Brazil, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Jordan Doddridge remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court February 7th at 9:30 a.m.

VPD detectives are still piecing together exactly what happened and additional charges could be recommended upon the completion of their investigations. Anyone with information about these incidents, including dash-cam footage, is asked to contact the officers at 604-717-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
