Fortis BC to launch 10K rebate for homeowners

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Jul, 2024 12:38 PM
  • Fortis BC to launch 10K rebate for homeowners

Fortis B-C is launching a 10-thousand-dollar rebate for homeowners who replace older heating systems with an electric heat pump and high-efficiency gas furnace.

The utility says the dual system uses the heat pump for cooling and the furnace for heating, and it will help customers cut both costs and greenhouse emissions.

Fortis says customers must meet a set of qualifications to claim the rebate, including having a has furnace that is at least a decade old, and the new systems must have been installed with an invoice date no earlier than July 1st of this year.

It says customers living north of the central Interior community of 100 Mile House may also be eligible for a three-thousand dollar "top-up" funded by the B-C government, while low-income people as well as Indigenous communities may be eligible for a 15-thousand dollar rebate.
