Former Surrey, B.C., Mountie Dario Devic Gets House Arrest After Vigilante Sting

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Oct, 2018 02:16 PM
SURREY, B.C. — A former British Columbia Mountie caught in a sting by a vigilante group has been sentenced to house arrest and probation after he pleaded guilty to breach of trust.

Dario Devic has been handed a four-month conditional sentence to be served in the community and 12 months of probation.

A provincial court judge in Surrey ordered Devic to serve two months house arrest and another two month under curfew.

Devic's lawyer Rishi Gill said outside the court on Friday that it should be emphasized that the judge was clear that Devic is of exemplary character, is supported in his community and is now paying for the consequences of her error.

He was arrested in Surrey in September 2016 after a group that calls itself Surrey Creep Catchers livestreamed a sting where its members gathered to confront a man who they alleged was planning to meet an underage girl. (News 1130)
