Former Mountie And Sports Coach To Stand Trial On Sex Charges In Kamloops, B.C.

The Canadian Press, 08 Jan, 2016 10:20 AM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A former RCMP officer and youth hockey coach will stand trial in Kamloops, B.C., on a series of sexual assault charges dating back to the late 1970s.

A preliminary inquiry for Alan Davidson has ended in provincial court in Kamloops and he must return to court on Feb. 9, to fix a date for trial.

Davidson is facing eight counts of indecent assault from his time as a sports coach in the southern Interior B.C. community of Clearwater, before he joined the RCMP in 1981.

The allegations did not surface until 2012, but eight victims have complained they were assaulted as young athletes  between the 1970s to 1981.

Davidson was arrested in Calgary in March 2014.

He was also charged last March with sexually assaulting three boys while working as an RCMP officer in Yorkton, Sask., from 1986 to 1993.
