Former Manitoba cabinet minister launches bid to become next premier

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 23 Dec, 2014 10:43 AM

WINNIPEG — Another candidate is launching a bid to become Manitoba's next premier.

Former transportation minister Steve Ashton is making it official today.

Ashton resigned from cabinet Monday to run in a leadership race to replace Premier Greg Selinger.

He joins former cabinet colleague Theresa Oswald, who resigned her post along with four others last month after publicly criticizing Selinger's leadership.

Selinger hasn't filed his paperwork yet but has said he will fight to keep his job.

NDP delegates vote for a leader March 8th.
