Five Charged With Dozens Of Trafficking Offences In Surrey, B.C.

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 31 May, 2019 05:39 PM

SURREY, B.C. — A 51-year-old man and four teenagers face multiple charges in what police in Surrey, B.C., allege is an illicit drug trafficking group operating in the Lower Mainland.

Police say the investigation that began last September resulted in 38 charges against six people, including one man who has since died.

The charges all relate to drug trafficking, specifically suspected fentanyl and cocaine.

Police say search warrants uncovered bulk and pre-packaged fentanyl and other evidence which led them to believe that large volumes of the drug was being trafficked.

The RCMP investigation began as police looked into a group of people believed to be involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

RCMP Insp. Wendy Mehat says the results of the investigation will have a positive long-term impact on the community with the disruption of a criminal network.
