Fish And Game Officials Say Canadian Hiker, 24, Collapsed And Died In New Hampshire

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 11 Oct, 2015 12:18 PM
LINCOLN, N.H. — New Hampshire officials say a 24-year-old Canadian man collapsed while hiking with friends and died despite extensive rescue efforts.

Fish and Game officials say Simon Deschenes of Chicoutimi, Quebec, was hiking on the Falling Waters Trail in Lincoln when he collapsed about 2.5 miles into the hike Saturday morning.

Other hikers performed CPR while conservation officers and other rescuers rushed to his aid. A New Hampshire National Guard helicopter flew to the scene to assist.

A litter was lowered and a medic airlifted Deschenes into the hovering helicopter and flew him to Littleton Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Deschenes had travelled to New Hampshire to spend the Columbus Day holiday weekend hiking with friends.
