The Canada Border Services Agency says charges have been laid against an American man after he attempted to bring guns into the country.
It says in a statement today that the man was stopped on May 6 by C-B-S-A officers at the Abbotsford border crossing as he attempted to pass through B-C on his way to Alaska.
The agency says border officers discovered three prohibited firearms, a silencer and two over-capacity magazines in his vehicle.
It says the man was arrested and now faces nine firearms charges and one count of making false statements.
Ottawa is trying to make the rebates more visible by sending them directly to people every three months rather than incorporating them into annual tax refunds. But when the first new deposits went out in July, most financial institutions dropped them into accounts with labels like "Canada Fed" or "EFT Credit Canada."
