Fiat Chrysler Canada Sales Rose Amid Expectations Of Record Year For Industry

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 05 Jan, 2016 12:10 PM
TORONTO — Fiat Chrysler Canada, one of the biggest car manufacturers in the country, says it saw its annual sales rise 1.1 per cent in 2015 in what is expected to be a record year for Canadian auto sales.

The company sold 293,061 vehicles last year, fuelled by sales of light trucks, a category that includes SUVs, minivans and pickup trucks.

Canadians bought 264,214 new Fiat Chrysler light trucks in 2015, up 3.6 per cent from 2014.

But car sales dipped 17.3 per cent from the previous year to 28,847 in 2015.

Other auto companies are set to report their annual sales figures today, and experts say the industry is poised to have a banner year.
