Female sexually assaulted by an unknown male in Surrey during a break and enter at a home

Surrey RCMP is informing the public about a break-and-enter to a residence where a female was sexually assaulted by an unknown male suspect.
On May 21 at approximately 6:40 am, police were called to the 12900 block of 101A Avenue in Surrey for a report of a break-and-enter to a residence. Upon attendance, Frontline officers spoke with the adult female resident, who reported that she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown male suspect. The female victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as an unknown male in his mid 30’s with light coloured skin, approximately 5’6” tall, wearing dark coloured clothing.
Police are conducting video and witness canvassing in the area.
Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit has conduct of the investigation and is asking anyone with information to contact police. In addition, anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam footage from the morning of May 21 near the 12900 block of 101A Avenue is asked to contact investigators at 604-599-0502.
British Columbia has introduced legislation that would allow people to get independent advice about their rights after they've been involuntarily detained for treatment of a severe mental health disorder. The province's Mental Health Act allows those in crisis to be treated for their own protection, or the protection of others.
The report tabled Thursday in the legislature says the committee was appointed amid widespread awareness of systemic racism in policing, a demand for more accountability and questions about police responses to mental health and addictions issues.

Frontline officers arrived on scene to find an injured man suffering from alleged gunshot wounds. An off-duty Vancouver Police officer and an off-duty nurse were on scene attempting life saving measures on the man, who died on scene. It is unknown if this is related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
Patrol members located a 16 year old victim receiving medical treated by school staff. The youth was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his injuries which included a significant laceration to his head, and suspected concussion and broken arm.
