Female Pedestrian Dies After Hit By Cement Truck In Vancouver's Downtown Eastside

    Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal collision in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood after a pedestrian was struck this afternoon.


    At around 2:30 p.m., a woman in her 60s was crossing the street at Powell Street and Jackson Avenue when she was struck by a cement truck. Paramedics from BC Ambulance Services attended but were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead.


    The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.


    Speed and alcohol aren/t believed to be a factor.


    The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is collecting evidence at the intersection.

     

    Anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time of the collision, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
