  • Federal election to take place for Canada on Sept 20

It is official a federal election will take place and Canadians will cast their ballot on Sept. 20. 

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday (Aug. 15) morning.

Trudeau took to Twitter to talk about the 44th election and why it is important that Canadians head to the polls.

The news of a Fall election saw a social media post from the leader of the Opposition Erin O’Toole as well as NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.

The election campaign will be 36 days long. The French-language debate is set to take place on Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. PT and the English-language debate the following day on Sept. 9. at 6 p.m. PT.
