Fatal Collision In Langley - Alcohol, Winter Driving Conditions Believed To Be A Factor

Darpan News Desk, 09 Feb, 2017 10:37 AM
A 24 year old Langley man has died as the result of a collision shortly after midnight this morning (February 9th).

Police have determined a southbound Ford Escort drove into the oncoming lanes in the 7700 block of 200th street and collided with a northbound Mazda 3. The Mazda, driven by a 30 year old Langley woman, sustained front end damage while the Escort was impacted on the passenger side.

Police believe alcohol to be a factor in the collision and possibly the road / weather conditions. The passenger in the Ford Escort died at the scene. The two drivers were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators will apply for a warrant for blood samples for the driver of the escort, a 28 year old Langley male.

Attempts to complete the next of kin notification have not yet been successful and additional efforts will be made throughout the day by investigators and Langley Victim and Client Support Services.

ICARS attended and will assist Langley Traffic Section with this investigation.

200th Street remained closed until approximately 5:30 this morning.
