Fatal 2015 Hit-And-Run In Abbotsford, B.C., Leads To Criminal Charge

The Canadian Press, 01 Jun, 2016 10:05 AM
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — A charge has now been laid, 16 months after a fatal hit-and-run crash in Abbotsford, B.C.

A release from the Abbotsford Police Department says 39-year-old Kerry James Froese has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death.

The charge comes almost one year after investigators found the grey, 2013 Ford Expedition believed to be linked to the Jan. 29, 2015 collision that killed 61-year-old cyclist Ronald Scott.

Officers traced the SUV to a property in Abbotsford last June, but a person of interest connected with the vehicle refused to provide a statement.

Investigators say witnesses to the hit-and-run are still needed.

They hope anyone with information will step forward, now that Froese has been charged.
