Family Says Rock Narrowly Missed Boy After Crashing Through Roof During Blasting

    PORT AUX BASQUES, N.L. — Officials with Emera (TSX:EMA) are investigating after a rock reportedly crashed through a family's home during blasting operations in western Newfoundland, nearly hitting a teenage boy.
     
    Emera spokesman Jeff Myrick says ongoing work on a road leading into the transmission compound for the Maritime Link has been suspended during the investigation.
     
    He says the work has been underway for several weeks without incident.
     
    Helena Wall says the seven kilogram rock just narrowly missed her 18-year-old son, Aiden, at their home in Cape Ray on Monday.
     
    She says he was on the computer just before the blast and his father had pushed his chair in because he was in the way, moving him out of the rock's path.
     
    Wall says the rock went through their double roof, damaged their floor, fridge and French doors.
