Extradition Trial For Chinese Man Su Bin In B.C. Accused By FBI Of Stealing Info

The Canadian Press, 08 Jul, 2015 12:48 PM
VANCOUVER — A defence lawyer for a Chinese man living in British Columbia and facing extradition to the United States for allegedly stealing American military secrets wants his client's case postponed indefinitely.

Greg DelBigio says a shortage of RCMP resources is causing delays in translating information from computers and other electronics seized from accused hacker Su Bin following his arrest last summer.

DelBigio says Su should have access to any information that could be used against him in court.

B.C. Supreme Court has heard that the U.S. is applying to send a team of investigators to Canada to help with extracting and translating data from the seized equipment.

Su is charged with working alongside two Chinese military officers to steal restricted information from several military contractors, including Boeing and Lockheed.

The Canadian government is attempting to revoke Su's permanent residency status.
