Explosion At Pemberton, B.C., Hydro Project Kills One, Injures Another

PEMBERTON, B.C. — One man is dead after an explosion at an industrial site near Pemberton, B.C.
 
RCMP say they received reports of an explosion at a hydro project near Pebble Creek Hotsprings around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
 
Sgt. Rob Knapton of Whistler RCMP says it happened when workers were handling explosives.
 
A 39-year-old man was killed at the site and a second employee was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
 
Police, the provincial explosives disposal unit, Worksafe and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.
 
RCMP have also enlisted the help of Sea to Sky GIS, a Whistler-based mapping and consulting firm.
