Erratic Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Several Cars On Highway 1 And Highway 99

Darpan News Desk, 15 Feb, 2015 12:44 PM
LIONS BAY, B.C. — A man has been arrested after crashing into multiple cars on Highway One and Highway 99, and attempting to flee when his pick-up truck rolled over near Lions Bay, B.C.

RCMP say the incident began at around 10:25 a.m. on Highway One in North Vancouver near the Westview exit, when police received the first of six calls about an erratic driver swerving between lanes and rapidly changing speeds.

The driver of the black pick-up truck continued westbound into West Vancouver, where he struck one vehicle on the highway just north of the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.

As the pick-up headed north on Highway 99, it crashed into two other vehicles about 10 kilometres south of Porteau Cove, near Lions Bay, at around 11 a.m.

RCMP say the pick-up truck rolled over, and the man got out and ran down an embankment, but officers arrested him only a short time later.

No injuries have been reported and the man remains in custody of the Squamish RCMP, who have not yet determined whether alcohol was a factor.
