Engineer Called To Inspect Unstable Antenna On Top Of Toronto's Trump Tower

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 01 Sep, 2015 12:03 PM
TORONTO — Police have closed off the area around the Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto because of an unstable antenna on top of the building.

Police say the closures will last until a city engineer confirms the antenna has been secured, which is expected to take until at least noon Tuesday.

Toronto Mayor John Tory has issued a statement calling for an investigation and saying he wants those responsible for the disruption to be held accountable.

The mayor says he is concerned about the impact on traffic, and city staff have told the building's owners to ensure there is no risk to the public.

The Trump Tower — a luxury hotel and condo that opened in January 2012 — is located in the city's financial district.

The building's namesake is real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
