On Monday at around 6:54 p.m., Surrey RCMP were at the scene of a serious crash at 76 Avenue near 151A Street which involved an elderly woman. 

Via release, the Mounties say the elderly female pedestrian stepped off to cross the street was struck by a vehicle heading west bound on 76 Avenue.

She was transported to hospital and remains in hospital in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing as investigators gather traffic camera footage and witness accounts. 

76th Avenue between 151A Street and 152 Street was closed for several hours.
