On the morning of May 28, a man got into an argument with an elderly woman in their East Vancouver apartment complex. The argument escalated, and the woman was assaulted.
A VPD officer was already in the building on another matter and was alerted to the incident by building staff. While trying to arrest him, the suspect bit the officer’s arm and tried to wrestle him to the ground.
Additional officers arrived and the man was arrested for assault causing bodily harm and assault peace officer.
The elderly victim suffered a broken nose, cuts, a swollen eye, and a non-life-threatening brain bleed. The officer sustained injuries to his arm.
