Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) continues to investigate a serious collision which has left an elderly man with serious injuries.
At 6:20 a.m., Burnaby RCMP Frontline officers responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a bus at the intersection of Imperial Street and Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby.
The pedestrian, an 82-year-old man remains in hospital with serious injuries.
While the circumstances of what led up to the collision are still under investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck.
Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed this collision or potentially have dash cam video in the area when the collision took place to please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or if you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Police are also asking that pedestrians please ensure they are visible, particularly in the early morning and late evening. In addition, please use marked crosswalks and ensure that you have made eye contact with drivers prior to entering the roadway.
