Elderly B.C. Mushroom Picker Who Went Missing Found In Good Health: Police

The Canadian Press, 22 Jun, 2015 12:01 PM
VANDERHOOF, B.C. — RCMP say an 82-year-old woman who went missing while she was picking mushrooms in central British Columbia has been found.

Cpl. Dave Tyreman says the woman's family reported her missing at about 7 a.m. on Friday after they spent the night looking for her about 130 kilometres south of Vanderhoof.

He says search crews arrived in the area at about 10 a.m. and found her by 5 p.m. the same day.

Tyreman says the woman was an experienced mushroom picker but had wandered away from a forest service road area.

She was found in good health, walking along a different forest road, about 10 kilometres away.

Police say the woman would have been found faster if she'd stayed in a visible spot after getting lost, and anyone in the same situation should remain where they can be easily seen.
