Education Council Recommends Closure Of New Brunswick Elementary School

The Canadian Press, 29 Jan, 2016 11:57 AM
MILLVILLE, N.B. — Students at Millville Elementary School in New Brunswick could be headed to nearby Nackawic in the fall.

Members of the Anglophone West School District education council voted Thursday to recommend closing the school.

The 7-6 vote came after an original motion to maintain the status quo was defeated.

In all, council considered six schools for possible closure.

A government policy states that schools can be recommended for closure if they have 100 or fewer students.

Education Minister Serge Rousselle has up to 60 days to review the recommendation. (CKHJ)
