Edmonton To Toronto Flight Diverted To Winnipeg Due To Unruly Passenger

The Canadian Press, 25 Dec, 2015 03:15 PM
WINNIPEG — A flight from Edmonton to Toronto made an unscheduled landing in Winnipeg after a passenger allegedly became unruly.

RCMP allege a man became agitated and combative during Air Canada flight 154 on Wednesday night and had to be restrained by the crew, passengers and an off-duty Mountie.

After the jet landed, RCMP officers stationed at the airport boarded the plane and removed the man.

An Ontario resident has been charged with mischief over $5,000 and uttering threats in connection with the incident.

Kelly Umphrey, 31, of Mississauga remains in custody in Winnipeg and it's not known when the suspect will appear in court to face the allegations.
