Edmonton School Board Says It Shouldn't Have Asked For Bus Driver To Be Fired

The Canadian Press, 02 Jun, 2015 01:33 PM
Edmonton's Catholic school board is apologizing to a bus driver who kicked a student off his bus for unruly behaviour.

The board says in a statement that it should have never asked its bus contractor to fire the unnamed driver after the exchange with the student last week.

Students shot a video of the bus driver throwing a 13-year-old boy's backpack out the door and then angrily ordering him off at an unscheduled stop about 10 blocks from the boy's home.

After the video was featured on the news, the bus company released another video shot by the driver.

It shows one student hitting the bus driver in the side of the head with a hockey bag and another student beating on his fellow classmates in the seats behind the driver.

The bus company took the driver off Catholic school routes, but refused to fire him.

The two boys have been suspended from taking the bus for one week.
