Edmonton Police Charge Woman With Murder In Death Of 5-Year-Old Daughter In 2015

    EDMONTON — Police have charged an Edmonton woman in the death of her five-year-old daughter.
     
    Officers got a call from EMS for assistance at an address near 116 Avenue and 124 Street on Oct. 12, 2015.
     
    They found Shalaina Arcand being treated by paramedics for apparent head injuries.
     
    Paramedics rushed the child to hospital, where she died four days later.
     
    The medical examiner’s office recently finished its autopsy report and concluded the girl died as a result of head trauma.
     
    Lauren Lafleche, who is 29, has been charged with second-degree murder and assault with a weapon.
