Earthquakes Canada says a series of quakes off the west coast of Vancouver Island this morning included one that registered a magnitude of 6.4.
The agency says the powerful quake at 8:08 a-m was "lightly felt" on the island, with the epicentre located about 183 kilometres southwest of Port Alice.
It was the largest of a cluster of earthquakes this morning around the same location, including quakes with magnitudes ranging from 4.3 to 4.9.
Earthquakes Canada says none of the earthquakes, which were about 10 kilometres deep in the Pacific Ocean, triggered a tsunami.
