PORT HARDY, B.C. — A 4.9 magnitude earthquake has hit off Vancouver Island but it appears nobody has felt it.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at 12:22 p.m. and about 151 kilometres southwest of Port Hardy, B.C.
Its depth was measured by the agency at seven kilometres.
Port Hardy Mayor Hank Bood says the quake was not felt in his community on northern Vancouver Island.
Natural Resources Canada says there were no reports of damage and none was expected.
