Dry Cleaner Key To Drug Deal Involving Rob Ford Pal, Crown Argues

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 29 Apr, 2015 12:00 PM
TORONTO — A Toronto court is hearing that a dry cleaner caught up in the intense police investigation of then-mayor Rob Ford was more than just incidental to drug deals involving an undercover cop.

In closing submissions, the Crown says Jamshid (Jay) Bahrami played a key role in the sale of marijuana to the officer.

She says the various deals — involving a total of about 680 grams of pot worth about $3,100 — could not have happened without him.

Bahrami, 49, who is licensed to have medical marijuana, was arrested at his west-end store on Oct. 1, 2013.

Minutes earlier, officers had arrested Ford's driver, Alexander (Sandro) Lisi, 36, outside the store carrying $900 in police-tracked bills.

Both have pleaded not guilty to marijuana trafficking and minor drug-possession charges.
