Drivers being warned ahead of time by Richmond RCMP regarding a protest at YVR this afternoon

Darpan News Desk Richmond RCMP, 25 Oct, 2021 11:56 AM
  • Drivers being warned ahead of time by Richmond RCMP regarding a protest at YVR this afternoon

Richmond RCMP is aware of a protest planned for later this afternoon in the vicinity of YVR.

Richmond RCMP recognizes that everyone in Canada has the right to freedom of expression and lawful assembly.  Additional resources will be in the area today, and we will be working with organizers on scene to ensure that all protest activity is carried out safely, in accordance with Federal and Provincial laws, and does not interfere with public safety operations in or around the airport.

Drivers are encouraged to watch for pedestrian traffic and additional signage in the area of Templeton Street and Grant McConnachie Way, and are asked to follow the directions of police and flag persons on scene.

In anticipation of possible traffic detours and delays, travellers are encouraged to plan ahead to ensure they arrive at the departure terminals well ahead of their scheduled flights.

Travellers are also encouraged to check out the YVR website, at https://www.yvr.ca/en/updates/planned-demonstration, and follow @RichmondRCMP on Twitter for updates on possible traffic disruptions as they occur.
