VANCOUVER — A Vancouver firefighter is in hospital after being injured while attending a call early Tuesday.
Assistant Chief Dan Stroup says the firefighter suffered a leg injury when he was knocked down by a hose that was being dragged under a car.
Stroup says the hose had been laid by crews responding to a structure fire on the Downtown Eastside.
He says the car drove through the active fire scene, became tangled in the hose and tripped the firefighter as it dragged the equipment past him.
Vancouver police say the driver, a man in his 50s, is being investigated for impaired driving.
Sgt. Jason Robillard says in addition to a three-day roadside prohibition, the driver has been ticketed and his vehicle has been impounded.
