Delta Police are releasing video footage in an effort to help identify an arson suspect from a June 2021 fire.
Police were called to a residential house fire in North Delta in the early morning hours of June 28th, 2021. The house was occupied at the time of the fire; however, no injuries occurred.
Investigators made efforts to identify the suspect but have been unable to do so to date, so are now seeking the public’s assistance.
An investigation determined the landing was not an emergency. Police said a passenger left the helicopter and went into a nearby Dairy Queen restaurant to buy an ice cream cake.
Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says Emergency Management BC is working with communities to ensure they have funding for measures such as cooling centres with targeted support for vulnerable people and overtime wages for staff.

The fire has moved eastward since then, prompting evacuation orders and alerts by four regional districts, two First Nations and the City of Vernon, while orders or alerts for other communities, including Falkland, Armstrong, Chase and the Spallumcheen township, have since been lifted.
