Delta Firefighter Died Of Injuries After Being Struck By Pickup Truck In Langley

The Canadian Press, 17 Jan, 2015 01:45 PM
DELTA, B.C. — The Delta Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its veteran firefighters after a fatal pedestrian crash.

Mark Janson was walking in a rural residential area in Langley, B.C., when he was struck by a pickup truck on Thursday night.

Delta Fire Chief Dan Copeland says Janson was a 26-year veteran of the department who cared deeply about helping others.

He says the department is in shock and is planning a tribute to the 54-year-old father and husband, who died in hospital of his injuries.

Langley RCMP say the 24-year-old male driver is extremely distraught and he and passersby conducted CPR on the man until paramedics

    arrived.

There are no street lights in the area and alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the collision.
