Defrocked Arctic Priest Eric Dejaeger Pleads Guilty To More Sex-Related Charges

    IQALUIT, Nunavut — A defrocked Arctic priest already serving time for the sexual abuse of Inuit children is awaiting further sentencing on another four charges.
     
    Eric Dejaeger is to be sentenced Oct. 22 after pleading guilty in Iqaluit on Tuesday to crimes in Edmonton and Grande Cache, Alta.
     
    They include indecent assault and gross indecency.
     
    Dejaeger, who is 68, lived in Edmonton from 1974 to 1978, when he was studying to be a priest.
     
    He is already serving a 19-year sentence for 32 sex offences against Inuit children that he committed between 1978 and 1982 in the remote village of Igloolik.
     
    The victims in that case included 12 boys, 10 girls and one dog.
