A man is dead after a hit-and-run in Nanaimo last night.
R-C-M-P say bystanders and first responders tried to save the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mounties say it appears the man was walking on Harmac Road near the Cedar Road Bridge when he was hit by a vehicle, and the driver did not stop to help.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area and may have dash camera footage from 6:30 to 7:30 last night to contact them.

A man who stabbed 79-year-old Eric Kutzner to death in a Nanaimo coffee shop two years ago has been found not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder. James Turok was convicted of second-degree murder in a B-C Supreme Court but will instead stay at the provincial forensic psychiatric hospital, Associate Chief Justice Heather Homes has ruled.
