Moments of silence are being held today to mark the national day of mourning for people who have died, been injured or suffered illness on the job.
Nova Scotia N-D-P Leader Claudia Chender noted there were 24 workplace deaths in the province last year -- more than the year before.
She says the day of mourning reminds political leaders that workers are counting on them to ensure safe workplaces.

Mounties responded to an assault that occurred inside Superstore located at 1-3000 Lougheed Hwy in Coquitlam between 4:20 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. on November 4. The suspect assaulted a woman who was seen with a small child.
