Daughter Of Man Shot By Newfoundland Police Wants Death To Be Election Issue

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The lawyer representing the daughter of a man who was shot by a Newfoundland police officer says she wants her father's death to become a provincial election issue.

Erin Breen says her client, Megan Dunphy, is becoming impatient with how long it's taking to get answers about the death of her father last Easter Sunday.

Breen says Dunphy feels the public should know where each party leader stands on the circumstances surrounding her father's death.

Don Dunphy was shot dead by an unnamed Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer investigating perceived threats against provincial politicians on Twitter.

The Liberals and NDP have said they would like to see an inquiry into the incident, while Premier Paul Davis says the Progressive Conservatives will wait until the investigation is done.

Davis is expected to announce the official start of a provincial election campaign this week for a vote on Nov. 30.
