Mounties say they're searching for a suspect after a cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Vancouver Island.
The Comox Valley R-C-M-P say a passerby found the injured male cyclist late last night near a road in Courtenay, and called 9-1-1, but the cyclist later died in hospital.
Police have not released the victim's name or age.
They say he was riding a red and white bike specialized bike, and investigators want to hear from anyone who may have seen him on the road.
Officials in Cranbrook say the city's transfer station for garbage and recycling was "intentionally" set ablaze by someone who tried to break into the facility overnight. John Cassidy, a seismologist with Natural Resources Canada, says people over a "very wide region" of the province have reported feeling the earthquake, which hit just before 3:30 in the afternoon.
