CCS Launches Service For Canadians To Get A Free Copy Of Their Credit Report And Score

Darpan News Desk, 09 Nov, 2017 11:19 AM
  • CCS Launches Service For Canadians To Get A Free Copy Of Their Credit Report And Score
The Credit Counselling Society is pleased to announce the launch of a free and confidential “credit report counselling service” for Canadians in the Lower Mainland.

“Each year we receive thousands of inquiries from consumers regarding their credit reporting information,” says Stacey Stenabaugh, CCS Program Manager. “While consumers are aware that they have a credit score, most people do not understand how a credit score is determined and how creditors (financial institutions and credit card companies) use this score, together with the information on their credit report, to determine a person’s creditworthiness.”

According to Stenabaugh, through the CCS service, consumers will gain a thorough understanding of the information on their credit report and the steps they can take to improve their credit score, credit rating and their ability to access credit at attractive rates and terms. Additionally, consumers will receive ongoing monitoring for 12 months, in which they can review their report on their own, receive alerts and updates every three months.

This credit report counselling service will be offered at CCS’ head office in New Westminster, where consumers can obtain a free copy of their credit report and score. Our team of Credit Counsellors will be assisting consumers to better understand their credit report, credit score and credit history. Moreover, our Counsellors will provide their expertise, guidance, strategies and a customized plan to help individuals improve their credit and pay off their debts.

“Building and maintaining an excellent credit rating is important for the majority of Canadians. It speaks to your financial character and level of financial literacy in managing your affairs responsibly,” says Scott Hannah, CCS President.

“Prospective employers as well as creditors use the information on your credit report as part of their decision making processes. An excellent credit rating may help you land your next career position, qualify for a mortgage and improve your overall financial wellbeing.”

To make an appointment, consumers can call the Credit Counselling Society at #1.855.232.5888 or visit  NoMoreDebts.org to learn more about the credit report counselling service
