CALGARY — The Crown wants a stiff sentence for a Calgary man who abused, starved and killed a dog and cat.
Gord Haight (HYTE) is asking a judge for a sentence of 2 1/2 to three years — plus probation — for Nicolino Camardi.
Haight also is asking that Camardi face a lifetime ban on owning any animals.
Haight says Camardi's abuse of the two animals was a case of "shocking and callous neglect."
He adds that Camardi's behaviour has been met with universal public revulsion.
The starved dog was found dead in a back alley with tape around its muzzle, while the dead cat was found with green painter's tape covering most of its face.
