Crown Seeks Peace Bond Against Medical Student Who Allegedly Spoke Of Death Plot

The Canadian Press, 06 Jun, 2016 10:36 AM
HALIFAX — Three of four charges have been dropped in the case of a Dalhousie University medical student who allegedly told his psychiatrist he had thoughts of shooting up to 20 people before killing himself.

Crown prosecutor Eric Taylor told the court that there wasn't a reasonable chance of conviction on two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm and one count of engaging in threatening conduct against Stephen Gregory Tynes.

Tynes is also charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited device in relation to an overcapacity cartridge magazine.

The Crown is seeking a peace bond against Tynes.

A police search warrant alleges Tynes told his psychiatrist he was going to stab the associate dean of undergraduate medical education at Dalhousie as well as her daughter.

Tynes has been charged with sexual assault in a separate incident.
