Crews Find No Sign Of Missing Vancouver Man On Nearby North Shore Mountains

The Canadian Press, 06 Jan, 2015 01:49 PM
VANCOUVER — Search crews have found no signs of 21-year old Liang Jin of Vancouver who is believed to have gone for a hike on the North Shore Mountains last week.

Jin sent a text message to his father on New Year's Eve saying he was going hiking, but gave no indication where he planned to walk.

A further search of his computer and Internet search history found that he was interested in the area of Lynne Headwaters and the Hanes Valley.

Bruce Moffat, of North Shore Rescue, says fresh snow and rain has made the search too risky to put people on the ground in some areas.

Since Jin went missing there has been another 30 centimetres of snow and Moffat says that has created dangerous conditions and a risk of avalanche.

Police say they believe Jin took a bus to the North Shore from the city, but they say he could also be elsewhere. (News 1130)
